
Build Your Base Beef Chili
Ingredients
- 1 lb Lean Ground Beef
- ½ Small Onion(chopped)
- 1 Green Bell Pepper(chopped)
- 1 Sweet Potato(1/2 inch diced)
- 15 oz Can of Reduced-Sodium Black Beans(rinsed & drained)
- 14 ½ oz Can of Low-Sodium Diced Tomatoes
- 8 oz Can of Low-Sodium Tomato Sauce
- 1 cup Reduced-Sodium Beef Broth
- 1 tbsp Chili Powder
- 1 tsp Cumin
- ½ tsp Garlic Powder
- ½ tsp Salt
- ½ tsp Pepper
Directions
- In a non-stick stock pot, over medium heat, add the ground beef, onion, and bell pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion and green pepper is softened.
- Add diced sweet potato and drained beans. Stir in the tomato sauce, canned tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Bring to a simmer, reduce the heat to low, and cover. Simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- When the chili is done, remove it from the heat and service with toppings of choice: sliced avocado, shredded cheese, or sour cream.
